Externally, the seed oil is beneficial for massage in rheumatic disorders to combat the pain and swelling.
Internally, nagakesara is benevolent in umpteen digestive disorders like loss of appetite, indigestion, excessive thirst, worm infestations, diarrhea, dysentery, vomiting because of its dipaniya and pacaniya properties.
Nagakesara also alleviates fever. It is given with the ghee in colitis and menorrhagia.
